Warehouses may enable a player to transfer non-material goods between alts. This excludes resources, materials or anything that relies on the caravan system.[1]


Storage points exist at warehouses within nodes and in chests (storage containers) that can be placed in freeholds and static in-node housing.[6][7]

Player housing storage

Chests are a type of furniture in Ashes of Creation.[7][8]

  • Players must obtain and place storage containers in their player-owned housing.[7]
  • Different grades of storage containers have different inventory capacities.[7]
    • There are restrictions on the grades of storage containers available in different types of houses.[7]
  • Access permissions can be set to allow others to access a player's personal storage devices.[9][10]
    • Personal storage chests may be set to permit access by family or guild members.[9][11]
  • Players are prohibited from moving goods out of depositories within a node following a siege declaration against that node.[2]

Marktplaatsen in Ashes of Creation are regional, which means that each market has its own character. Because resources will shift locations as they’re exhausted, this will keep people moving about the world, seeking out the best resources for their crafting builds, and the best markets for their goods.[14]

Mailing items

Items and resources are not able to be mailed by players.[23][24]

Purchases of anything other than materials and gatherables from integrated auction houses will be mailed to the purchaser.[25]

Player inventory

Personal inventory limits[27][28] are tied to a backpack.[29] Material and gatherable items are subject to quantity rather than weight limits. Caravans and Mules are intended to be the primary mode of transportation of goods beyond these limits.[30][31]

  • Mules can carry roughly 10 times more than backpacks. Caravans can carry roughly 10 times more than mules.[32]
  • Caravans will have carrying capacity limits and customizable stats, such as defensive points, speed and number of hired NPC guards.[33]
    • In addition to expanded inventory capacity, caravans also provide ancillary benefits relating to successfully completing trade routes and other quests.[34]

Inventory capacity will be relatively limited for new characters.[34]

  • Inventory expansion and weight management training certificates are available in the Galleria at City stage economic nodes.[34][35]
  • A player's inventory has sections for different types of items. Quest items for example will not fill a player's regular inventory capacity.[34]

Item stacks will in general have quantity limits based on the type of item.[30]

  • The stacking limit of potions might be one hundred. The stacking limit of food items might be 999 or 1000.[30]


A backpack is an item crafted by artisans that provides personal inventory space.[29]

In order to roleplay you need to be able to represent kind of what your character is doing in that world and you know part of what animation is doing is creating these sockets on the let's say the belt or the backpack that you know can plug in certain types of props or items that are created by the character team.[36]Steven Sharif


Mules are mounts that assist in the transport of goods, resources, and gatherables to increase a player's carrying capacity.[37] Mules transport goods on a much smaller scale than the caravan system.[38]


Caravans facilitate the transfer of goods for players wishing to turn a profit.[40]

  • Caravans can transport goods for more than one player.[44]
